As a fashionista, I pride myself on noticing upcoming trends before they are… well trendy. But I must say, until I was seeing them everywhere, it never occurred to me to address the boyfriend jean. I myself like fitted jeans. Loose jeans give me flashbacks to my tomboy days, when I wore insanely baggy jeans that completely enveloped my long, lanky frame and made me appear even taller and skinnier than I already was. While that may sound like a good thing, in high school, the goal was to fit in, not stand out as freakishly tall. As if that’s not enough the baggy jeans trend also reminds me of a time I was forced to wear men’s jeans since finding women’s jeans that were long enough proved to be impossible. Ok, sorry to drag you into my pathetic “wonder years;” back to the trend at hand. I must say despite my unfavorable memories, the boyfriend jean trend is completely growing on me. Why? I’m glad you asked.
Lot of jean companies offers various types for women. Many of these are ideal for short as well as plus sized women. Following are some of the jeans:
Straight leg jeans
They are ideal for petite women as they give an illusion of longer legs. The vertical look that this style adds to the profile of shorter woman makes her appear leaner and taller. However, when purchasing your pair, you should properly measure your length with the jeans you pick.
Skinny Jeans
This style of jeans can also be very ideal for those shorter women who are either very thin or medium sized. Skinny jeans are known to give short women a taller look.
Boot-cut
Slight boot-cut jeans are perfect for those shorter women, who possess hourglass figures or triangle body shapes. Slight boot-cut style will add extra height. Of all the various jean designs, these are my absolute favorites. I like boot cut jeans because they are classic, timeless and flatter almost every figure. Boot cut jeans with a moderate low rise and a slightly darker wash look great during the day with a simple tee, and at night with a more glamorous top, heels and jewelry.
Wide Leg Jeans
These jeans can be picked for those shorter women, who are bulky. Such women should not go for the slim cut jeans but only these wide legged jeans as they will offer a great balanced look to the whole figure.
Low Rise Jeans
Low rise jeans can be a good choice for those shorter women, who have small booties.
Whichever style you pick always remember to buy the jean that fits right for your figure. The right fit is extremely important because a jean that is too baggy or too tight will never look good.
